Every fern, mushroom, moss and seed head was gathered within walking distance of my own door and dried through the summer to hold its colour.

This is the first of four. Each window in the series shares the same frame, and each one holds a different gathering from the boreal forest, so no two panes repeat.

The panes are poured in two layers rather than one. The lower layer carries the forest floor, the mushrooms and moss and fallen wood, and the upper layer carries the ferns and stems standing above it.
