boreal-window-no-2-pressed-flower-window-art-with-mushrooms
Boreal Window No. 2 | Pressed Flower Window Art with Mushrooms

This pressed flower window art holds a gathering from the boreal forest behind four panes, poured by hand in clear resin in Cold Lake, Alberta. Every fern, mushroom, moss and seed head was foraged within walking distance of my own door and dried through the summer to hold its colour.

This is the second of four. Each window in the series shares the same frame, and each one holds a different gathering, so no two panes repeat. The first has already found its home.

The panes are poured in two layers rather than one. The lower layer carries the forest floor, the mushrooms and moss and lichen, and the upper layer carries the ferns and stems standing above it, so the botanicals sit at different depths and the piece has real dimension when you look into it. Set into the resin behind them is a holographic floral pattern that catches the light and shifts as you move past it, so the window never looks quite the same twice.

This one leans blue and purple. Forget me nots open across the lower left pane, a single purple pansy sits in the lower right, and lavender and statice carry that colour through all four. A real dragonfly rests in the upper right pane, wings open against the light.

🍄 Real foraged forest mushrooms, moss and reindeer lichen along the forest floor
🌿 Hand gathered ferns, cedar, forget me nots, a purple pansy, lavender and statice
✨ A holographic floral pattern set into the resin itself, shifting as you move past
🪰 An ethically sourced dragonfly in the upper right pane
🪟 Four panes in a whitewashed wood frame, 15" H x 11" W

Features:

• Foraged by hand: every botanical was gathered on my own forested property near Cold Lake and dried through the summer to hold its colour
• Two layer pour: the forest floor sits below and the stems stand above it, giving each pane real depth rather than a flat surface
• Holographic backing: a floral pattern set into the resin itself shifts and catches the light as you move past the piece
• One of a kind: only one of this window exists, and the exact piece shown in the photos is the one you receive
• Part of a series: second of four boreal windows, each sharing the frame and each holding a different gathering

Materials: Clear resin, real foraged botanicals, whitewashed wood frame
Dimensions: 15" H x 11" W
Finish: Translucent panes with a holographic floral pattern set into the resin
Availability: One only, second of four in the Boreal Window series
Made in: Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada
Shipping: Free shipping across Canada

This piece suits anyone who loves the forest floor and wants to keep a piece of it indoors, and it makes a lasting housewarming, anniversary or Christmas gift for someone who walks the trails. It hangs well in an entryway, above a desk, in a reading corner, or anywhere daylight reaches it. Hang it near a window and the panes carry the light right through, which is when the holographic pattern shows best. Keep it out of direct all day sun, which will fade any preserved botanical over time, and dust it with a dry soft cloth.

Because every window is foraged and poured by hand, this one cannot be remade.
