I’m so excited to introduce you to my friends Pam and Louise, the owners of Ham Sandwich Designs from Ottawa.
They create the funniest, loveliest stickers and gifts based on their unique art that I just know you are going to love.
Pam and Louise started Ham Sandwich Designs because they wanted to share their art with Canada, and because they were tired of stickers that faded or peeled on their cars and water bottles - they sell vinyl stickers that stay vibrant, adhere permanently, and are made with UV technology that mean they won't fade when you put them on any number of different surfaces.
Louise has worked in the past as a caricaturist and a political cartoonist, and Pam is trained in art history and pattern design, but their different backgrounds combine to make a uniquely Canadian style, like the different flavours of a delicious sandwich!
They work together to decide on the collections of stickers and other products in their store, and take turns producing the art.
I particularly love their A Year of Moths collection, designed by Pam and inspired by the passing of seasons in Eastern Ontario.
As an example, the moth for March is inspired by early Spring mornings when the pussy-willows are just in bloom.
July's moth is inspired by all the coneflowers that grow there and how busy they become with bumblebees.
And September's moth is inspired by the beautiful colours of fall leaves in the Gatineaus every Autumn.
Each month's Moth is available as a sticker on a 3" or 5" transfer sheet, as a group of 4 on a 9" transfer sheet, or you can have the entire eclipse (that's the collective noun for a group of moths, did you know?) as a beautiful calendar, it's a wonderful idea for holiday gift giving.
