Forest Cameo | Mushroom Fridge Magnet in an Ornate Gold Frame

This mushroom fridge magnet is a small framed piece of the boreal forest, poured by hand in clear resin in Cold Lake, Alberta. Real forest mushrooms stand on their own stems, ferns open behind them, and a dried daisy and a single orange bloom sit along the bottom, all held inside an ornate gold frame.

It is built in three dimensions rather than pressed flat. The mushrooms stand up inside the resin at their full height, so the scene has real depth and you can look into it from the side and see the forest floor from another angle. The surface is raised and tactile where the caps sit, and the frame protects all of it.

The frame does most of the work here. It is the kind of scrolled, gilded surround you would expect around a miniature portrait, which turns a handful of foraged mushrooms into something closer to a specimen worth framing. There is a magnet on the back, so it holds on a fridge, a filing cabinet or a magnet board, and it is just as happy propped on a shelf or a windowsill.

Features:

• Foraged by hand: the mushrooms, ferns and moss were gathered on my own forested property near Cold Lake and dried to hold their colour
• Three dimensional, not pressed: the mushrooms stand up in the resin instead of lying flat, so the scene has depth and shows the forest floor from the sides as well as the front
• Clear backed: nothing fills the background, so the botanicals read as though suspended and the piece takes on the colour of whatever it sits on, white or stainless
• Holds or stands: use the magnet on any steel surface, or prop it up on a shelf
• No two alike: every mushroom and fern is a different shape, so each one is arranged by hand and none repeat exactly

This one suits anyone who collects small beautiful things, loves mushroom foraging, or wants a piece of the forest somewhere they will see it every day. It makes an easy stocking stuffer, teacher gift, hostess gift or something to tuck in alongside a card. Keep it out of direct all day sun, which will fade any preserved botanical over time, and wipe it with a dry soft cloth.

NOTE: Every mushroom, fern and flower is foraged and set by hand, so yours will be close to the photos but never identical, with its own placement and flower colours that may vary from the piece shown. The mushrooms decide the arrangement as much as I do.
