There are moments in life that ask for something more than words. The Forever Songbird was created for exactly those moments, to give you something tangible, something beautiful, and something that carries the presence of someone you love in a way that feels right to keep close.
This page walks you through the entire process from start to finish so you know exactly what to expect and can feel completely at ease from the moment you place your order.
There are three ways to make yours. You can choose the forget-me-not bird as it is, you can send cremated remains, or you can send your own dried flowers from a service, a bouquet, or a garden that mattered to someone. Many people send both ashes and flowers together.
Step 1 — Place Your Order
Visit the Forever Songbird product page and complete your order, including whether you are sending cremated remains, your own dried flowers, or choosing the forget-me-not bird as it is. Note your base accent choice and the name of your loved one if you would like it kept with your records.
Once your order is received you will get a confirmation email from Dragonfly Treasures within one to two business days containing your submission instructions and a mailing address.
Step 2 — Sending Cremated Remains
You will need to send approximately two tablespoons of cremated remains. This is a small amount and leaves the majority of your loved one’s ashes with you.
How to package them for mailing:
-Place the ashes in a small sealed zip lock bag
-Wrap the bag in bubble wrap or soft tissue
-Place inside a small rigid box or padded envelope
-Label the outside clearly with your order number and name
-Ship via Canada Post tracked mail for your own peace of mind
Any remains that are not used in the pour will be carefully and respectfully returned to you with your finished bird unless you indicate otherwise at checkout.
Step 3 — Sending Your Own Flowers
Flowers must be completely dry before you send them. Fresh or partly dried blooms will not survive the journey or the pour.
To dry them yourself, bundle the stems with an elastic band and hang them upside down in a dark, dry room for two to three weeks, out of direct sunlight. They are ready when the petals feel papery and a stem snaps rather than bends. You can also dry them flat in a book or use silica sand to dry them whole.
How to package them for mailing:
-Lay the dried flowers flat between sheets of tissue
-Place them in a small rigid box, not a padded envelope, so nothing is crushedIf you are sending petals, place them in a small sealed bag or envelope inside the rigid box so they stay together
-Label the outside clearly with your order number and name
-Ship via Canada Post tracked mail
If you are unsure whether your flowers are dry enough, send a photo before mailing and I will take a look. There is no rush and no wrong question.
A note on flower size
The Forever Songbird measures roughly 4 inches long by 2.5 inches high, so the blooms that go inside need to be small enough to sit naturally within that shape. Flowers roughly the size of a loonie or smaller work beautifully whole, things like forget-me-nots, baby’s breath, small daisies, lavender, and rosebuds.
If your flowers are larger, a full rose, a peony, a lily, send the dried petals rather than the whole bloom. Petals carry the same colour and the same meaning, and they often sit more beautifully in the resin than a whole flower would. You are welcome to send a mix of whole small blooms and petals from the larger ones.

Step 4 — The Pour
Once your remains or flowers arrive, your Forever Songbird will be scheduled into production. Each bird is hand-poured individually in high quality clear resin in careful layers.
Cremated remains are gently incorporated into the base of the bird during the pour, settled naturally beneath a layer of real botanicals. Forget-me-nots are the default flower, chosen for their meaning of love, loyalty and cherished memory.
If you have sent your own dried flowers, they are checked, prepared, and placed by hand so the blooms that mattered most are the ones you see.
The base is then finished with your chosen accent, silver leaf, gold leaf, or soft glitter, adding a gentle shimmer that honours what rests beneath.
Because every pour is done by hand and every set of remains and every flower settles differently, your Forever Songbird will be completely one of a kind. No two are ever exactly alike.
Step 5 — Turnaround Time
Please allow two to three weeks from the date your remains or flowers are received for your Forever Songbird to be completed. This allows time for each careful layer to cure properly and for the finishing details to be applied with the attention they deserve.
If you are sending your own dried flowers, please allow an extra week, as the blooms are checked and prepared before the pour begins.
If you have a specific date you are hoping to receive your bird by, such as an anniversary or a gathering, please mention this at checkout and every effort will be made to accommodate your timeline.
Step 6 — Packaging and Shipping
Your Forever Songbird will be carefully wrapped and nestled in protective packaging designed to keep it safe on its journey to you. It ships via Canada Post tracked and insured mail so you can follow its progress every step of the way.
